24 things I Did While 24 💁🏻‍♀️

Last year I wrote this list called “24 things to do while 24” as a way to console myself during my premature quarter-life crisis.

IMG_4754.jpgLast year I wrote this list called “24 things to do while 24” as a way to console myself during my premature quarter-life crisis. (Though as someone so kindly pointed out to me: I’m being fairly optimistic assuming I’m going to live to 100. THANK YOU FOR POINTING THAT OUT. I FEEL MUCH CALMER NOW.)

Aheh. 😅 Now that my 25 bday is mere weeks away and the sense of impending life crisis is imminent (if I show up with a surprise haircut, you’ll know it’s hit), I thought I’d check in with how last year’s went. Here’s the list:

1. cultivate a personal yoga practice –> try Ashtanga Yoga at least once! (have been doing yoga pretty much weekly & usually more often)

2. do sun salutations with the sunrise (preferably on a beach, but I will settle for in the mountains)

3. host a dinner party or perhaps just attend the whole “Dinner with Jim” thing in Paris (well Dinner with Jim has ended, unfortunately, but I’ve had several friends over and cooked for them and they didn’t die!)
4. go on a solo hike / solo skiing
5. go on an overnight hiking trip (not solo) (IT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND!)
6. ski in the alps 🙂
7. submit something I’ve written to a publication (preferably more than once) (does submitting something on my blog count? lol. this still needs to happen.)
8. create a birthday tradition for my next birthday
9. have a good belly laugh (done, but repeatable! 😉 )
10. compile a hard copy of things I’ve written & make a cute lil’ book for personal use IN PROGRESS
11. day or overnight bike trip IN PLANNING (going to bike around the Bodensee first week in June!)
12. compile a list of people’s bdays and impt dates so i remember (adulting)
13. watch the sunset somewhere memorable
14. write a letter to an author who inspired me (DONE!)
15. karaoke with friends (the more memorable and terrible, the better)
16. Amsterdam with friends  😉 (visit van gogh museum!)
17. take a week(end) trip through Italy
18. skinny dipping
19. create a short video project….or complete something creative & for no purpose other than play.
20. keep a plant alive in my room & name it (well…i kept it alive for two months…now I have 2 new plants)
21. work through The Artist’s Way (at least make it to chapter 3 for the love of god) (finished the whole book!)
22. finish the Harry Potter series (bonus for crocheting during.) I’ve even managed to watch the films too!
23. go surfing in California —>  I changed this to:  Learn to ski! Ski in the alps!
24. get a disposable camera and document my year
I’m actually pretty impressed with everything I’ve accomplished over the past year. I felt pretty ambitious making this list, and some of it hasn’t happened (like the trip to Italy), but there’ve been plenty of other things to make up for that (like a girl’s weekend in Vienna).
Some things that weren’t on my list but were equally important that happened this year:
> starting a creative group with two friends
> being an adult and opening a roth IRA (wut!? did you know that IRA stands for “I’m Really Adulting”? true story.)
> dancing / practicing intuitive movement on a weekly basis
> working on a creative film project
> waking up at 3am to go on a hike and watch the sunrise (oh yah that’s a story coming soon)
BTW, last year I was in London on my bday and this woman at an open-air market started talking to me and showed me this ring and told me it would bring me happiness and confidence. I interpreted it as a prophecy and have been wearing it ever since. And what can I say? Year 24 has certainly been full of happiness and an increased sense of confidence and purpose.

Currently working on my list of “25 things to do while 25” and on the lookout for more magical rings.

You make me feel so inspired. An overnight bike trip, skinny dipping, and documenting with a disposable camera are totally on my list too. 🙂

[…] Last year’s was so delightful it was actually a bit challenging for me to think of different things to do for this year. In the end, I think the list came out a bit tame because I wanted it to be achievable, which is why I didn’t include sky-diving. (Paragliding might be fun though. I hadn’t thought of that. Maybe I’ll add it.) […]

leave a kind thought :)
