This semester I did an art project for a show some friends of mine organized. Its theme was “Letters & Numbers.” My piece, the “The Secret Cries of Colors,” is about the letter/number combinations that determine colors on computers. We often talk about “warm” and “cool” colors and what they communicate, so I thought it would be fun to do a piece that explores this “language” of colors. The combination of numbers and letters spell out what look like angry or humorous cries, like “000fda” (which is a shade of blue).

Dear Sarah,
Thanks for sharing that interesting slide show. How did you find those letter combinations? I also wondered how this could be pre dated to 2 am on January 1st when I read it on December 31st.
Love,
Grandma Reedy
Hm, I’m not sure why the date was off! Maybe my time zone is set wrong.
